May 21, 2021, is the official release date of The Matrix. The threequel of the iconic movie all generations love will be continued, as Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity in the fourth installment, along with actors Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen. 

Lana Wachowski went on in a statement: “Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”

The release date was previously set for director Taika Waititi’s live adaption of Katsuhiro Otomo’s Akira but was reportedly put on indefinite hold back in October to accommodate for the Waititi’s schedule for Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder.
